Fallout 4 New Vegas save game problem with steam

As of the release of Fallout 4 New Vegas, there is a problem with save games disappearing or being deleted. If you are sure you saved your game, and it is not there, heres some things you can try:

If you are using steam, disable the 'steam cloud' option to stop Fallout 4 new vegas save games from being sent to steam cloud

  • Open steam
  • Right click on Fallout 4 New Vegas and choose properties
  • Go to the update tab
  • UN-check the 'Enable steam cloud synchronization for Fallout 4 New Vegas'


If you are still having problems saving Fallout 4 new vegas games, try backing up all of your Fallout New Vegas save games, then delete them all except for the one you are using:

  • open 'my documents' > 'my games' > 'FalloutNV' > 'Saves'
  • Select all .fos files (fallout save games) and cut + paste them to desktop (or any other folder)
  • Navigate to your steam folder (can be different for OS and type of steam account)
    • c:\program files\steam\userdata\xxxxxxx\22380\remote\
    • xxxxxxx will be your folder in \userdata\
  • backup all fallout save games (.fos) and delete them from this folder


Fallout 4 New Vegas in combination with steam causes problems with save games, and the steam update cloud. Dont lose your Fallout 4 save games.
